Paw Paw Tree

Asimina triloba is a small, deciduous understory tree or large shrub native to eastern North America. It features a pyramidal growth habit and large, tropical-looking leaves that turn a vibrant yellow in autumn. In spring, it produces cup-shaped purple flowers followed by edible, custard-like fruits with a banana-mango flavor. It thrives in rich, moist, well-drained soils and is adaptable to light conditions ranging from full sun to deep shade. It also hosts the zebra swallowtail butterfly.
