About Utah Milkvetch

Astragalus utahensis, commonly known as Utah milkvetch, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial native to the Intermountain West. It is distinguished by its dense, white, woolly hairs that give the pinnate foliage a soft, silvery appearance. In spring, it produces striking clusters of large, magenta pea-like flowers that contrast against the pale leaves. This drought-tolerant species thrives in well-drained, gravelly soils and full sun, making it ideal for rock gardens or xeric landscapes. Its prostrate habit and unique texture provide excellent ground coverage in arid conditions.
