About Rocky Mountain Maple

Acer glabrum, commonly known as Rocky Mountain maple, is a deciduous small tree or multi-stemmed shrub native to western North America. It typically reaches heights of 10 to 30 feet with an upright, narrow crown. The foliage consists of three-lobed, serrated leaves that turn brilliant shades of yellow and red in autumn. Highly valued for its ornamental red twigs and winged samaras, it thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is exceptionally cold-hardy, making it ideal for woodland gardens.
