Acer triflorum, the three-flowered maple, is a small deciduous tree reaching 25 to 30 feet with a rounded, dense crown. Native to China and Korea, it is prized for its ash-brown exfoliating bark that peels in vertical strips to reveal orange-brown inner layers. Its trifoliate leaves emerge emerald green, turning vibrant shades of orange, scarlet, and gold in autumn. This slow-growing specimen thrives in moist, well-drained, acidic soils and is remarkably cold and heat tolerant.
