About Little Moonshine Yellow Yarrow

Little Moonshine is a compact yarrow sold under that trade name; its patent cultivar denomination is 'ACBZ0002'. It forms an upright, low mound of finely divided gray-green foliage topped by bright golden-yellow flower clusters. The plant was bred by Must Have Perennials and is listed by [Darwin Perennials](https://www.darwinperennials.com/Products/Details/?phid=000400001033379); patent [USPP 28,179](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP28179P3/en) was granted in 2017. ## Flowers and garden use The flower heads can continue through a long season: the breeder lists flowering from late spring through autumn, while the [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/336607/achillea-millefolium-acbz0002/details) describes flowers from summer into autumn. Timing shifts with climate. Use this small cultivar in sunny borders, compact gardens, or for cutting. Its flowers attract butterflies, and it is listed as resistant to deer and rabbits. ## Size and siting Darwin Perennials lists a height of 9–12 inches and a spread of 10–12 inches. Monrovia lists a larger mature size of 12–14 inches tall by 14–16 inches wide; RHS describes plants reaching about 35 cm tall. The patent separately measured container-grown trial plants at about 33 cm tall and 30–33 cm wide. Allow for variation with growing conditions. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil; the [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/336607/achillea-millefolium-acbz0002/details) lists chalk, loam, or sand. Water regularly while new plants establish, then reduce irrigation; [Monrovia](https://www.monrovia.com/little-moonshine-yarrow.html) says established plants tolerate dry spells. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stems during the bloom season if you want to encourage repeat flowering. After flowering, cut back remaining stems in fall; in spring, trim foliage that stayed untidy over winter. The exact cleanup timing can vary with climate and how much seed-head interest you want to leave in the garden.
