Create design onlineAbout Desert Eve™ Terracotta Yarrow
Desert Eve™ Terracotta is a compact yarrow with dark orange flowerheads above aromatic, finely divided foliage. Syngenta lists an upright habit, full sun, and flowering from mid-spring through summer; the Royal Horticultural Society identifies the cultivar as Desert Eve Terracotta (‘Dester’) and describes a low, clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial.
## Garden use and season
The [Syngenta product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers-us.com/product/flower/70008231) lists flowers in mid- and late spring and summer, with a garden size of 16–20 inches high by 18–24 inches wide. It also marks the exact cultivar pollinator-friendly. The [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/375128/achillea-desert-eve-terracotta-dester-desert-eve-series/details) describes small, dark orange flowerheads on upright stems and suggests borders, cottage gardens, gravel and prairie plantings, wildlife gardens, and cut flowers. RHS gives a broader mature height and spread range of 0.1–0.5 metres.
## Siting and water
Choose full sun and well-drained soil; the RHS cultivar profile says to avoid heavy, wet clay in winter. The [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/achillea/how-to-grow-achillea) advises watering young achilleas during dry spells in their first year. Yarrow can spread by rhizomes and seed, so allow room for it to expand or plan to manage its edges.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flowerheads if you want to prolong flowering and limit seed spread; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/achillea-millefolium/) recommends this for *Achillea millefolium*. The RHS cultivar profile recommends cutting back untidy foliage and dividing clumps in spring.
