About Desert Eve™ Yellow Yarrow

Desert Eve™ Yellow is the trade name for the yarrow cultivar ‘Desyel’, selected for yellow flowers and a compact, upright form. Syngenta lists full sun, a 16–20-inch height, an 18–24-inch spread, and flowering from mid-spring into summer; the cultivar is also documented in [Canadian breeding records](https://active.inspection.gc.ca/english/plaveg/pbrpov/cropreport/yar/app00007802e.shtml). ## Garden use and season The [Syngenta product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70008236) identifies Yellow as SKU 70008236, marks it pollinator-friendly, and gives spring and summer as flowering times. Its compact garden dimensions suit a sunny border. [Monrovia’s exact-cultivar listing](https://www.monrovia.com/desert-eve-yellow-yarrow.html) also suggests containers, cutting and butterfly gardens, and reports bloom from early summer to fall, a later season than the breeder’s schedule. Syngenta lists USDA hardiness 5a–9b; Monrovia gives 4–9. Monrovia identifies ‘Desyel’ with patent number PP22,369. ## Siting and water Give it full sun and well-drained soil. Monrovia advises regular deep watering through the first growing season; it says established landscape plants tolerate periodic dry spells, while container plants need regular water. Keep pots checked more often in hot weather and avoid waterlogged soil. Canadian cultivar records describe the foliage as medium green and the ray florets as yellow, with yellow-green undersides. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stems for a tidy look and to prolong flowering. The [RHS achillea guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/achillea/how-to-grow-achillea) recommends deadheading and spring division for established plants; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/achillea-millefolium/common-name/thousandleaf/) notes that deadheading yarrow can also limit spread by seed.
