Create design onlineAbout Agapanthus Queen Mum™
Queen Mum™ is the patented agapanthus ‘PMN06’ (PP24651), grown for oversized flower heads with white petals shaded violet-blue at their bases. Its evergreen, strap-shaped leaves form a clump beneath the summer-to-fall display, making it useful in a sunny border or a large container.
## Garden use
[Southern Living Plants](https://southernlivingplants.com/the-collection/plant/queen-mum-agapanthus/) lists mature foliage clumps around 24–30 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, with flowers above the leaves. Use it where the bicolor umbels can be seen close up, or repeat it along a warm border. The blooms also work as cut flowers.
## Growing conditions
Choose full sun to part sun and well-drained soil. Southern Living Plants gives USDA zones 8a–10b; local cold exposure and winter drainage affect performance near the edge of that range. Water during establishment and when the root zone dries, then avoid persistently wet soil. Its clumping foliage makes a substantial presence in a pot, so allow room for mature spread. [Brookgreen Gardens](https://www.brookgreen.org/plant-collection/name/agapanthus-praecox-subsp-orientalis-pmn06-queen-mum%25E2%2584%25A2) records the cultivar and patent identifier; the [U.S. patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP24651P3/en) confirms grant on July 15, 2014.
## Maintenance
Remove spent flower stalks for a tidy display. The brand lists no routine pruning requirement. In colder climates, use a container that can be moved to shelter or protect the root zone during hard freezes.
