About Sonoran Sunset Agastache

Agastache cana ‘Sinning’, marketed as Sonoran Sunset®, is a compact, upright hummingbird mint with aromatic foliage and dense spikes of lavender-rose tubular flowers. It begins flowering earlier and continues later than the straight species, adding color from midsummer toward frost and drawing pollinators to sunny, dry borders. ## Cultivar and size The [Plant Select profile](https://plantselect.org/plant/agastache-cana-sinning-pp-13-673/) identifies the exact selection as ‘Sinning’ PP13,673 and lists a mature range of 16–24 inches high and wide, with flowering from midsummer to frost. The [plant patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP13673) names the cultivar ‘Sinning’ and describes its compact upright habit, fragrant foliage and flowers, and continuous bloom from mid-June through September in the northern hemisphere. The U.S. patent grant date is March 25, 2003. ## Siting Grow in full sun or a warm microclimate with well-drained soil. Plant Select recommends loam or sandy soil and moderate-to-dry watering, and cautions that overwatering can shorten longevity. It lists zones 5–9; local winter moisture and exposure may affect persistence. ## Maintenance Leave old stems through winter and cut them back to the base in spring to make room for new growth. Avoid routine heavy watering once established, and replace plants that decline after several years if needed.
