Create design onlineAbout Rosie Posie Hyssop
‘Rosie Posie’ is a compact hybrid hyssop with upright, branched stems and rounded clumps of bright green, fragrant leaves. Its magenta-pink flower spikes carry deep purple calyxes that remain colorful as flowers fade, extending the display from midsummer into early fall. Bred by Hans Hansen and Kevin Hurd and introduced through Proven Winners, it suits sunny borders, containers and cutting gardens.
## Garden Use and Conditions
Expect about 18–22 inches tall and 24–30 inches wide. Plant in full sun and sharply drained soil; this cultivar performs poorly where winter soil stays wet. Use it in small groups or as a repeat color accent. The species is in the mint family, Lamiaceae. Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds visit its flowers.
## Bloom and Patent
The breeder describes summer and early-fall bloom; the patent reports flowering from July to frost in Michigan. US plant patent **USPP25857P3** was granted September 1, 2015. Flower color ranges from reddish pink to reddish lavender, while persistent calyces extend the late-season effect. ## Maintenance
Water new plants while roots establish, then avoid wet soil around the crown. Remove spent spikes for a tidy look or leave them for their colored calyces. No intensive routine pruning is needed. In colder or wet-winter gardens, sharp drainage and a sunny, protected position matter more than extra feeding.
