About POQUITO® Orange Agastache

Agastache POQUITO® ‘Orange’ is a compact, upright hummingbird mint with clear orange flower spikes above aromatic green foliage. Terra Nova identifies the cultivar as ‘TNAGAPO’, patent PP30506, and describes flowering from June through September; North Carolina State Extension characterizes the flowers as peachy orange and notes the licorice scent of the leaves and flowers. ## Landscape Use The 12–15 inch flowering height and roughly 15 inch spread make this a useful edging plant, front-of-border accent, or container perennial. Its flowers provide nectar for hummingbirds and butterflies, and its compact form can be repeated in groups without overwhelming nearby plants. ## Siting and Soil Grow it in full sun with sharp drainage. It tolerates a range of soils if water does not linger around the crown; wet clay in winter can be especially damaging. Keep the root zone watered while the plant establishes, then reduce irrigation. Terra Nova identifies it as drought tolerant once established. The breeder lists USDA zones 5–10. ## Maintenance Cut back old stems in early spring as new growth starts. Maintain open, well-drained soil around the crown and avoid routine heavy watering after establishment.
