About Poquito™ Orange Dwarf Hyssop

Poquito® Orange ('TNAGAPO') is a compact, upright hummingbird mint with clear orange flower spikes above aromatic green foliage. Terra Nova Nurseries selected and introduced this hybrid; its U.S. plant patent identifies the cultivar as 'TNAGAPO' and the trademark as Poquito® Orange. ## Form and flowering The breeder lists a mature size of about 12 inches tall by 15 inches wide, with flowers from June through September and hardiness in USDA Zones 5–10. The patent describes two-year-old plants grown in full sun in Canby, Oregon, reaching 64 cm to the flower tops and 53 cm wide; those trial measurements are larger than the breeder's general garden size, so expect some variation with age and site. Flowers are orange and foliage green. ## Siting Give it full sun and sharply drained soil. Terra Nova notes that excellent drainage is important for winter survival and that the plant tolerates drought once established. Its compact scale suits sunny borders and containers, and its nectar-rich flowers attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and extended hot, dry periods, then allow the soil to dry between waterings. Remove spent flower spikes if a tidier appearance or additional flowering is desired. Avoid persistently wet winter soil.
