Butterfly Agave

Agave potatorum, known as the Butterfly Agave, is a stunning, small-to-medium succulent that forms a perfectly symmetrical rosette of fleshy, blue-grey leaves. Native to the semi-arid highlands of Mexico, it features distinctive spatulate foliage edged with sharp, reddish-brown spines and a wavy terminal needle. This drought-tolerant species thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to light shade, making it ideal for xeriscapes, rockeries, or modern container gardens. It is also historically significant for its use in mezcal production.
