Spring Celebrities Pink Hollyhock

Spring Celebrities Pink is a compact, bushy hollyhock with soft pink, double flowers held above rounded, lobed foliage. The Spring Celebrities series is bred for first-year flowering and basal branching, making this cultivar useful where traditional hollyhocks would be too tall. ## Form and flowering The Royal Horticultural Society describes this selection as a short-lived perennial that flowers in summer, with erect flower spikes and a mature height around 0.5–1 metre. The series commonly reaches about 24–32 inches and spreads roughly 12–18 inches, although garden conditions and suppliers’ measurements vary. Its upright flower stems bring a cottage-garden character to a sunny mixed border or wall-side planting. ## Placement and growing Plant in full sun in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Water during dry spells while the plant establishes, and avoid crowding foliage: hollyhocks can develop rust, especially where leaves remain humid. The series can flower from seed in its first year under favorable timing and growing conditions. ## Maintenance Allow airflow around the foliage and remove rusted leaves and dead growth after flowering. The [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/344132/alcea-rosea-spring-celebrities-pink-spring-celebrities-series-d/details) notes rust susceptibility and recommends clearing dead foliage; [Utah State University Extension](https://extension.usu.edu/planthealth/ipm/ornamental-pest-guide/diseases/rusts) advises spacing plants and removing infected material.
