About Gold Strike Lady's Mantle

Alchemilla sericata ‘Gold Strike’ is a compact lady’s mantle with deeply lobed, softly hairy gray-green leaves and airy sprays of pale yellow to yellow-green flowers. [Jelitto](https://www.jelitto.com/Jelitto%2BPerennial%2BSeeds/Breeding/Jelitto%2Bs%2BCultivars%2BNew%2BIntroduction/ALCHEMILLA%2Bsericata%2BGold%2BStrike%2BSeeds%2B-.html) identifies it as its 2009 introduction; the cultivar is also profiled by the [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/298071/alchemilla-sericata-gold-strike/details) and [Loen Nursery](https://www.loennursery.com/products/alh-sr-gsk). ## Garden use The foliage forms a low mound and the flowers rise above it in late spring and summer. Its modest size suits the front of a mixed border, path edging, or a small ground-cover planting; Jelitto also lists it for cutting. The RHS describes a mature plant to about 35 cm, while Loen gives 12–18 inches, so allow a little room around the crown rather than treating one height as exact. ## Growing conditions Grow in full sun or partial shade. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand, with soil kept moist but well drained. Jelitto reports hardiness in USDA zones 3–8. Flowering dates shift with climate and the local growing season. ## Maintenance Keep some moisture available in the soil. Once flowers and foliage become untidy from late summer onward, shear the plant back; the RHS notes that fresh foliage will appear. Divide an established clump in early spring or autumn if more plants are needed.
