Alocasia ‘Polly’ is a compact, tender foliage plant with shield-shaped, dark-green leaves, silvery-green veins, and purple undersides. It is primarily grown indoors, where its strongly patterned leaves provide a bold accent; the plant may occasionally produce a yellow spathe ([RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/372528/alocasia-polly/details), [Costa Farms](https://costafarms.com/products/alocasia)).
## Appearance and placement
The RHS lists a mature height and spread of 0.1–0.5 m for this cultivar. The current numeric dimensions and labels are retained because they fit within that broad range. University of Florida IFAS shows the cultivar as a compact selection with dark-green leaves and contrasting pale veins; it can be grown as a houseplant or in a container outdoors in warm weather. Protect it from cold and keep the pot where its foliage can be seen without exposing it to harsh direct sun.
## Growing conditions
Give it partial shade or bright, indirect indoor light. Use a moist but freely draining houseplant mix, and water when the upper part of the potting mix begins to dry; Costa Farms notes that persistently wet roots may rot. Average indoor temperatures suit it, though additional humidity can help prevent dry leaf tips.
## Maintenance
Water during active growth and reduce watering in winter. No routine pruning is needed; remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. The plant is toxic if eaten and may irritate skin or eyes, so keep it away from children and pets and wash hands after handling sap.
