About Mythic Stingray Elephant Ear

The [Proven Winners leafjoy catalog](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/catalogs_pdfs/leafjoysellinggroups.pdf) lists Mythic™ Stingray as Alocasia macrorrhizos. The [UF/IFAS guide](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP033) describes Alocasia Stingray as having glossy green leaves with long, pointed tips and gives a 3–5 ft height and spread range. Use it as an architectural foliage specimen in a warm indoor display or sheltered tropical planting; allow room for its broad, upright leaves to spread as it grows. ## Form and placement Its broad leaf bases taper into extended tips, a distinctive shape that reads clearly in a container or as a focal plant. Allow enough room for the leaves to spread as the plant develops; mature size varies with growing conditions. ## Growing conditions Grow in bright filtered light or partial shade, with warmth and high humidity. Use fertile, moisture-retentive soil that drains well; keep the root zone moist during active growth without leaving the corm in waterlogged soil. It can be grown indoors or outdoors in warm conditions; protect it from cold and bring container plants under cover before frost. Alocasia contains calcium oxalate crystals and its sap can irritate skin; keep it away from children and pets. ## Maintenance Remove yellowing or damaged leaves as needed, using gloves and clean tools. Watch for mealybugs and glasshouse red spider mites, and reduce watering if growth slows in winter.
