Wonderland Purple Deep Alyssum

Wonderland® Deep Purple is a compact sweet alyssum grown for small, intensely colored flowers and a sweet fragrance. It is one of Benary’s named Lobularia maritima Wonderland cultivars and works well as a low flowering edge or container planting. ## Flowers and placement Sakata describes this selection as an early, compact variety with a long flowering period and recommends it for beds and containers. Benary’s production guide gives the series an average height of about 3 inches and width of 11 inches; individual garden plants vary with conditions. Place it near a walkway, at the front of a border, or in a mixed container. North Carolina State Extension notes that sweet alyssum flowers are fragrant and attract pollinators. ## Growing conditions Choose sun or partial shade and soil that drains freely. The species is usually grown as an annual in temperate gardens.
