About Spring Flurry® Serviceberry Tree

Spring Flurry® is J. Frank Schmidt & Son’s upright-oval selection of Allegheny serviceberry, identified by the breeder as ‘JFS-Arb’. It combines a strong central leader with spring flowers, edible fruit, and orange fall color. ## Landscape use and seasonal interest The breeder recommends it as a street tree, where its upward-oriented branches and single-leader form make a more structured silhouette than a multistem serviceberry. It reaches about 28 feet tall and 20 feet wide. Clusters of white flowers cover the fine branching in spring; purplish-blue edible berries follow, then medium-green leaves turn orange in autumn. Leave adequate clearance for its mature canopy and for fruit drop. ## Siting and care Plant in full sun or part shade in a well-drained site. The breeder lists it for USDA zone 4; regional performance can vary with exposure and local climate. Water through establishment and during prolonged dry weather. Its ornamental fruit can be left for wildlife or collected when ripe. ## Maintenance Preserve the central leader and remove damaged, crossing, or competing branches selectively while the tree is young. Avoid topping, which would undermine the tree form. Once established, the tree needs little routine shaping. Sources: [J.
