About Leadplant

Amorpha canescens, commonly known as leadplant, is a deciduous subshrub native to the North American prairies. It features a deep taproot system, making it exceptionally drought-tolerant and ideal for xeriscaping. The plant is distinguished by its elegant, silvery-gray pinnate foliage and striking spikes of tiny purple flowers accented by bright orange anthers. As a nitrogen-fixing legume, it improves soil quality while providing a vital nectar source for bees and butterflies in sunny, well-drained sites.
