About Mona Lisa® Pink Anemone

Mona Lisa® Pink is an upright, cool-season selection of Anemone coronaria grown for clear pink flowers on sturdy, long stems. PanAmerican Seed lists this cultivar at about 18 inches tall and 6 inches wide, with early-spring and autumn flowering, and positions the Mona Lisa® series for cut-flower production. ## Seasonal display and siting Plant in groups in a sunny, sheltered border, a container, or a cutting bed where the pink blooms can be gathered easily. The series is also grown in greenhouses and high tunnels; the breeder recommends partial sun and cool conditions for long stems. Flowering can occur in early spring or autumn depending on climate and production schedule. [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/004800948004054/anemone-mona-lisa-pink/) identifies this selection as Mona Lisa® Pink (PAS1858), part of its F1 series. ## Growing conditions The species prefers free-draining soil and sun or light shade. Keep soil moderately moist while leaves and stems are actively growing, but do not let the tuber sit in waterlogged ground. After flowering, foliage dies back and the tuber benefits from a drier summer rest. In colder climates, grow as a seasonal annual or protect dormant tubers from hard frost and excess winter moisture. See [RHS growing guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/anemone/spring-flowering/growing-guide) and [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/anemone-coronaria/common-name/spanish-marigold/) for species-level care. ## Maintenance Water newly planted tubers until established and during active growth as needed. Harvest stems when buds are colored and partly open. Let foliage yellow naturally after flowering before removing it, then keep dormant tubers relatively dry. The breeder reports that Mona Lisa® plants do not need staking, netting, or disbudding in cut-flower production.
