About Mona Lisa® White Anemone

Mona Lisa® White is an upright, cool-season selection of Anemone coronaria with white flowers on long, sturdy stems. PanAmerican Seed lists it at about 18 inches tall and 6 inches wide, with early-spring and autumn flowering, and recommends the Mona Lisa® series for cut-flower use. ## Seasonal display and siting Plant it in a sheltered border, container, or cutting bed for a clean white accent in spring or autumn. PanAmerican Seed lists partial-sun exposure and greenhouse or high-tunnel production; for garden planting, the species tolerates light shade but prefers a sunny, sheltered position. Flowering depends on local temperatures and the planting schedule. [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/004800948005863/anemone-mona-lisa-white/) identifies the cultivar as Mona Lisa® White (PAS1862), part of the F1 series. ## Growing conditions Anemone coronaria grows in free-draining soil and is poorly suited to prolonged wetness, particularly during its dormant season. Water as needed while actively growing, then allow a drier summer rest after flowering as the foliage dies back. In colder areas, use it as a seasonal annual or protect dormant tubers from hard frost and excess winter rain. See the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/anemone/spring-flowering/growing-guide) and [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/anemone-coronaria/common-name/spanish-marigold/) for species-level advice. ## Maintenance Water new plantings until established and during active growth when needed. Harvest flowers as buds become fully colored and begin to open. Leave foliage until it yellows naturally, then reduce watering while the tuber rests. PanAmerican Seed reports that the Mona Lisa® series does not require staking, netting, or disbudding in cut-flower production.
