‘Curtain Call Deep Rose’ is a compact Japanese anemone with dark rose-pink, semi-double flowers above a low mound of green foliage. A Walters Gardens introduction in the Curtain Call series, it blooms from late summer into early fall and brings color to the front of a border or a patio container. Its cultivar patent is US PP30520.
## Flowers and form
The flowers have a double row of petals and yellow centers. Walters Gardens lists mature dimensions of 14–18 inches tall and 16–18 inches wide, with hardiness in USDA zones 4–8. The shorter flowering stems suit smaller spaces and can be used in mixed borders, mass plantings, or cut-flower arrangements. The plant spreads by underground rhizomes, so allow a little room around the clump and move new shoots in spring if they appear outside the desired area.
## Siting
Grow in rich, loose soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. Full sun works where moisture is dependable; part shade is useful in warmer climates, especially during hot afternoons. The [RHS Japanese-anemone guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/anemone/japanese/growing-guide) also recommends fertile soil and moisture without waterlogging, and notes that these perennials die back in winter.
## Cultivar and sources
Walters Gardens lists the cultivar in its Curtain Call series and identifies it as PP30520. Its [cultivar profile](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=ANECC) documents flower form, size, bloom time, and cultural needs. [Great Garden Plants](https://www.greatgardenplants.com/products/curtain-call-deep-rose-japanese-anemone) independently confirms the name and patent number, along with the pink flowers and compact garden use. No patent issue date is proposed.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while plants establish and during dry spells; avoid both prolonged drought and standing water. A spring mulch of compost helps retain moisture. The rhizomes may send up nearby shoots, which can be lifted and moved in spring. Cut back old stems in early spring before new growth emerges.
