Fantasy™ ‘Cinderella’ is a compact Japanese anemone selected for a long display of baby-pink flowers with bright yellow centers. Its low, tidy clump brings late-season color to small borders and containers where taller Japanese anemones would overwhelm nearby plants.
## Garden Use and Season
Plants Nouveau lists this selection at 12–18 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, with flowers from late July into October. The Morton Arboretum reports the same mature dimensions and describes rose-pink flowers with yellow centers. Use it along a path, at the front of a mixed perennial bed, or in a roomy container; allow space for the clump to broaden.
## Growing Conditions
Give it full sun to partial shade and evenly moist, well-drained soil. North Carolina State Extension notes that Japanese anemones prefer fertile soil that does not dry out, and that afternoon shade can help in hot southern conditions. The species group spreads by rhizomes, so check the clump as it establishes and remove unwanted runners.
The cultivar is patented as ‘Cinderella’ (PP25367; granted March 24, 2015). Plants Nouveau markets it in the Fantasy™ series and identifies the cultivar on its [Cinderella profile](https://www.plantsnouveau.com/plants/perennials/anemone-fantasy-cinderella).
## Maintenance
Water during dry spells, particularly while the plant is establishing. Leave room for its gradual spread; divide or lift rooted sections if the clump becomes crowded or moves beyond its intended space. Cut back spent stems after flowering and clear old foliage when it dies back.
