‘Loreley’ is a clump-forming Japanese anemone with dark-green, three-lobed leaves and large light-pink flowers. It flowers from summer into late autumn, bringing color to a border as many summer perennials fade. The petals may show a paler, fringed edge, and the plant’s flowering stems can rise above the foliage.
## Garden Use and Size
The Royal Horticultural Society describes a plant about 90 cm tall, with a listed range of 0.5–1 metre high and 0.1–0.5 metre wide. The Polish Nurserymen Association likewise describes a clump-forming cultivar around 80 cm tall, with flowering stems exceeding a metre, and places it in the Autumn Elegans group. Use it in a mixed perennial border, cottage garden, or naturalistic planting; the showy stems also suit cut-flower use.
## Siting
Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist but freely draining soil. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sandy soils; avoid sites that remain cold and waterlogged in winter. Japanese anemones spread by rhizomes, so leave room around the clump and keep it away from plants that cannot compete.
The [RHS profile for ‘Loreley’](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/47292/anemone-%C3%97-hybrida-loreley/details) confirms the cultivar’s flower form, season, and growing position.
## Maintenance
Water during dry spells, especially while new plants establish. Cut back old flower stems after bloom. Check for wandering rhizomes and remove unwanted shoots; lift and divide rooted sections if the clump becomes crowded.
