Lucky Charm is a compact Japanese anemone valued for changing foliage color as well as dark pink late-season flowers. Its leaves emerge violet, then mature green with violet undersides, while dark stems carry pink blooms into fall.
## Appearance and placement
Briggs Nursery describes a mature size of about 30–36 inches tall by 20 inches wide, with a mounding form. Use it near the front or middle of a mixed perennial border, in a woodland edge with enough light, or in a small group where its foliage can be seen. It can naturalize over time, so leave room to expand or edge the planting. [Briggs Nursery](https://www.briggsnursery.com/plant/anemone-x-hybrida-lucky-charm/) and [Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery](https://devilmountainnursery.com/anemone-lucky-charm/) identify the cultivar and describe its pink flowers and spreading roots.
## Growing conditions
Plant in partial shade or a site with gentle sun and soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. The flowering stems rise above lobed foliage; flowers have pink, petal-like sepals around yellow stamens. Late summer and fall are the main display, with flowering reported to continue until frost in suitable conditions.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while the plant establishes and during dry spells. Allow space for its gradual spread and remove unwanted shoots at the edge of the clump. Cut back spent stems after flowering or tidy old foliage in late winter before new growth emerges.
