About Pretty Lady Emily Anemone

Pretty Lady Emily is a compact Japanese anemone with light-pink, semi-double flowers above a tidy mound of dark green foliage. Its late-summer-to-fall bloom extends the garden’s flower season while keeping the plant small enough for a border edge or container. ## Flowers and placement The [cultivar patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP22303P2/en) distinguishes Emily by its compact growth and semi-double light-pink flowers; its description separates Emily from the single-flowered Pretty Lady Diana. The patent records a breeder trial plant at about 42 cm tall and 40 cm across in a 21-cm pot, while the [wholesale cultivar profile](https://www.acornfarms.com/responsive/velocity/15AFcategories.php?pullname=ANEMONE+PRETTY+LADY+EMILY) generally lists about 38–46 cm tall and 46–61 cm wide. Emily was bred by Yoshihiro Kanazawa and introduced through Blooms of Bressingham®; [U.S. Plant Patent PP22303](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP22303P2/en) was granted December 6, 2011. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains evenly moist but drains well. The open flower stems rise above basal, trifoliate foliage. Use it along a woodland or mixed border, in a container, or in a small group where its late-season color can be seen. ## Maintenance Water regularly during establishment and avoid prolonged drying during active growth. Once settled, leave the plant undisturbed unless division is needed to manage the clump. Remove spent stems after flowering for a tidy appearance; faded flowers do not need routine removal for the plant to perform.
