‘Robustissima’ grape-leaf anemone is a tall, clump-forming perennial with divided, grape-like green leaves and dark-pink flowers on reddish stems. It brings late-season color to a perennial border and can also supply cut flowers, but established plants may spread beyond their original clump.
## Form and site
The [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/89665/anemone-tomentosa-robustissima/details) describes plants to about 1.2 m tall, with a broader listed height range of 1–1.5 m. [The Morton Arboretum](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/grape-leaved-anemone/) gives 3–4 ft high by 2–3 ft wide for this cultivar, which broadly supports the existing catalog dimensions. Mid-green, three-lobed leaves form a deciduous clump; dark-pink, five-petaled flowers appear from late summer into fall. Full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil suit the plant. Avoid sites that stay excessively wet in winter.
## Landscape behavior
Use it in a flower border, cottage-style planting, or cutting garden where its height can rise above lower perennials. The RHS notes that it can spread rapidly once established and may become a nuisance in some gardens. Give it room or monitor the edge of the clump, particularly near smaller plants. The Morton Arboretum reports butterfly and other pollinator visits.
## Maintenance
Cut back old stems in late autumn after the flowering display. Divide in spring or autumn only when propagation or space management is needed; the RHS notes that established plants dislike being moved. Watch for slugs, caterpillars, leaf and bud eelworm, powdery mildew, and anemone smut.
