About Alonia™ Big Bic. Purple Angelonia angustifolia

Alonia™ Big Bicolor Purple is an upright, large-flowered Angelonia in Danziger’s ALONIA™ series, with purple-and-white bicolor blooms. The breeder lists it in the BIG class, with heat tolerance and early flowering among the series traits. ## Flowers and Landscape Use The upright spikes provide a vivid accent in sunny borders, grouped plantings, and mixed containers. Danziger’s 2026–27 North American catalog lists the BIG selections at 14–16 inches tall by 12–14 inches wide. Angelonia typically flowers for a long summer season; NC State Extension recommends it for borders, groups, and containers. Angelonia tolerates summer heat and humidity. It is often grown as an annual where winters are cold, though it can behave as a perennial in mild climates. ## Maintenance Water while establishing and during prolonged dry weather. NC State notes that deadheading is not needed. Monitor for aphids and powdery mildew, especially in dense plantings with limited air movement.
