About Alonia™ Big Blue Angelonia angustifolia

Alonia™ Big Blue is an upright, large-flowered Angelonia in Danziger’s ALONIA™ series, grown for blue flower spikes and an extended warm-season display. Danziger describes it as heat tolerant, early flowering, and suitable for containers as well as landscape plantings. ## Flowers and Landscape Use Use this compact selection in sunny borders, grouped beds, or patio containers for vertical color among lower plants. Danziger’s 2026–27 North American catalog places Big Blue in the BIG class at 14–16 inches tall by 12–14 inches wide. Angelonia generally blooms through summer and often into fall in warm weather. Angelonia is adapted to hot, humid summer conditions; in cold-winter areas it is usually grown as an annual, while frost-free or mild climates can support perennial growth. ## Maintenance Keep plants watered while establishing and during long dry spells. Deadheading is not normally required. Watch for aphids and powdery mildew where plants are crowded or air movement is poor.
