Create design onlineAbout Archangel™ Raspberry Summer Snapdragon
Archangel™ Raspberry is an upright Angelonia selected for rose-raspberry flower spikes, dark green foliage, and a compact, well-branched frame. Ball lists the cultivar denomination as ‘Balarcaspim’ and gives a garden size of about 12–14 inches tall by 10–12 inches wide.
## Flowering and placement
The flowers rise above glossy foliage through summer and late summer. Its upright form works in sunny borders, beds, and mixed containers; the flower color can read red-rose or raspberry depending on light and description. Penn State’s 2018 trial entry recorded uniform growth and sustained flowering through early September, while trial height and width were larger than the breeder’s current landscape dimensions. Use the breeder’s compact size for planning and treat trial size as site-dependent.
## Siting and care
Plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Ball describes Archangel as tolerant of extreme heat, humidity, and drought; UF/IFAS notes Angelonia’s drought tolerance after establishment. In cold climates this tropical perennial is grown as an annual and blooms until frost. Ball’s protection list identifies U.S. Plant Patent PP24,287. [Ball Landscape](https://www.balllandscape.com/Products/plantinfo.aspx?phid=004906299004443), [Ball plant protection](https://www.ballfloraplant.com/Legal/PlantProtection/), and [Penn State Flower Trials](https://agsci.psu.edu/flower-trials/Plant-Name/Angelonia-Archangel-Raspberry) document the cultivar and performance.
## Maintenance
Water through establishment and during extended dry periods; containers need more frequent checks than in-ground beds. Normal landscape plants are generally low care and do not require routine deadheading or staking. Remove damaged growth or lightly shape only if needed. No fall or winter flowering is claimed.
