About Kanga® Yellow - Anigozanthos

Kanga Yellow is a compact evergreen kangaroo paw with upright stems carrying fuzzy yellow tubular flowers above a clump of narrow leaves. The UC Davis Arboretum lists this selection at about 2 feet tall and flowering from spring through fall, with drought resistance and hummingbird interest. ## Form and placement The [UC Davis Arboretum plant list](https://arboretum.ucdavis.edu/sites/g/files/dgvnsk1546/files/inline-files/April_8_2021_Final_Availability%20%281%29.pdf) names *Anigozanthos* ‘Kanga Yellow’ and describes its evergreen form, yellow flowers, full sun, and attraction for hummingbirds and butterflies. Green Fuse’s [Kanga series page](https://green-fuse.com/new/anigozanthos-kanga/) lists Yellow as a color selection; its Kanga culture report identifies container display as a core use. The existing 1–2 foot label reflects this compact garden scale, while flower stalks rise above the leaf clump. ## Siting and water Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. The UC Davis Arboretum recommends letting the soil dry between waterings, and the [Green Fuse culture report](https://green-fuse.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Anigozanthos-Kanga%C2%AE.pdf) likewise requires free-draining media. Avoid prolonged wetness, especially in cooler weather. Kanga is useful as a compact container accent or in a small sunny group. ## Maintenance After flowering, remove finished spikes close to the base and clear dead or diseased leaves. The fine flower hairs can irritate skin, eyes, or breathing passages; wear gloves and eye protection when cutting stems.
