Pussy Toes (Antennaria)

Antennaria is a genus of mat-forming perennials known for their woolly, silver-gray foliage and unique flower heads that resemble kitten paws. Spreading via stolons, these plants create dense, low-growing carpets ideal for rock gardens, alpine settings, or as a small-scale groundcover. They thrive in lean, well-drained soils and are exceptionally drought-tolerant once established. Their dioecious flowers appear in late spring, providing essential habitat for the American Painted Lady butterfly.
