About Madame Butterfly™ Ivory Antirrhinum

Madame Butterfly™ Ivory is an F1 Antirrhinum majus snapdragon with upright spikes of full, double azalea-type flowers in an ivory-white shade. Syngenta identifies this color variety as product 70041198 and lists the series for spring and summer flowering, garden borders, and cut arrangements. ## Flowers and placement The Ivory selection brings a light neutral color to mixed beds and bouquet work. Syngenta gives a typical garden size of 24–30 inches tall by 14–16 inches wide. The dense, ruffled flower form distinguishes this series from the familiar single snapdragon. ## Growing conditions Grow in full sun or partial shade in moist, rich, well-drained soil. Snapdragons are short-lived tender perennials often grown as annuals. NC State Extension notes that they are useful in borders and as cut flowers, and that bees pollinate the flowers. ## Maintenance Keep the soil evenly moist, especially while plants establish, and avoid overhead watering. Tall forms may need staking; monitor for rust and other fungal problems in humid conditions.
