Create design onlineAbout Overture™ II Red Antirrhinum
Overture II Red is an upright red snapdragon selected for cut-flower production, with sturdy stems and dense flower spikes. Syngenta identifies this exact selection as product 70018080 in the Overture series and lists it for Group II spring and fall crops; its garden dimensions are 100–110 cm tall and 35–40 cm wide ([Syngenta Flowers](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/apac/product/flower/70018080)).
## In the garden
The red spikes bring a vertical accent to sunny borders and provide stems for bouquets. Syngenta reports an expected 12–15 day vase life and marks the variety pollinator friendly. *Antirrhinum majus* is a short-lived perennial often grown as an annual; NC State Extension lists snapdragons for borders, containers, and cutting gardens ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/antirrhinum-majus/)).
## Growing conditions
Give plants full sun or light afternoon shade where summers are hot, and moist, fertile soil with good drainage. Water during dry spells because snapdragons have low drought tolerance. Their foliage and stems can be affected by rust and other fungal diseases, so avoid overhead irrigation when possible. Kew places *A. majus* in Plantaginaceae ([Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:799180-1)).
## Maintenance
Remove spent flower spikes to keep plants neat and potentially promote another flush. Stake tall stems if they lean, and water around the root zone to help foliage dry promptly.
