About Spring Magic Navy and White Columbine

Spring Magic ‘Navy and White’ is a compact columbine selected for its sharply contrasting dark blue and white spurred flowers. It belongs to Benary’s uniform Spring Magic F1 series, which forms dense leaf rosettes and a rounded, full plant. The breeder gives the series a height of about 14 inches and an early-spring flowering season, making this color form useful at the front of a border or in a seasonal container. ## Site and seasonal use The [Benary culture guide](https://wt.ballhort.com/DisplayProductInformation/106809/Aquilegia%20hybrida%20F1%20Spring%20MagicR.pdf) lists Navy & White among the Spring Magic series colors and describes the series as an early-spring flowering perennial, 14 inches tall, for bedding and rockery. A [Syngenta product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/emea/product/flower/70003195) also lists the Navy and White color form within Spring Magic and describes the series as upright with sun-to-shade exposure. Aquilegia generally grows best in sun or partial shade and fertile, moist but well-drained soil; see the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/aquilegia/growing-guide). ## Maintenance Keep soil from drying out during establishment and extended dry weather, while avoiding persistently soggy conditions. Remove spent flowers for a tidier display or to encourage further bloom. Leave selected seed heads if you want the plant to self-seed; seedlings may not retain the named color.
