Remembrance® columbine is the Swan Violet and White selection, with dark violet-purple spurs and outer petals around white inner petals. Its blue-green, divided leaves form a basal clump, while upright stems carry large outward- to upward-facing flowers. The name is also used as Remembrance Columbine; published sizes vary, with sources generally describing a plant about 14–24 inches tall.
## Growing conditions
Site in full sun or partial shade, with fertile soil that remains moist but drains well. It fits cottage and wildlife gardens, flower borders, and cutting gardens. Nursery and plant profiles place it broadly in zones 3–9, though local heat, moisture, and exposure affect performance.
## Seasonal interest
RHS describes flowers from early spring into summer; other listings place the main show in mid-spring to early summer. The contrasting violet and white flowers are useful among later perennials and can be cut for bouquets. Consult the [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/352568/aquilegia-swan-violet-and-white-swan-series/details) and [Bluestone listing](https://www.bluestoneperennials.com/AQVW.html) for cultivar details.
## Maintenance
Deadhead after flowering to tidy the plant and limit self-sowing; leave selected seed heads if seedlings are desired. Cut back spent foliage if it looks worn. Columbines are often short-lived, and seedlings may not retain the cultivar’s distinctive flower pattern.
