Earlybird™ Red Yellow is a compact hybrid columbine with red and yellow flowers and a neatly mounded outline. The warm bicolor display brings early-season color to a border front, woodland edge, or container.
## Flowers and size
PanAmerican Seed identifies this selection as ‘PAS1258483’ and lists it at 9–11 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide, with flowering from early spring into summer. Its [Red Yellow cultivar page](https://www.panamseed.com/products/005709017004580/aquilegia-earlybird-red-yellow/) confirms the selection code and shared Earlybird season, size, and habit. The [RHS Aquilegia guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/aquilegia/growing-guide) provides general columbine guidance on flower form, soil, light, and post-flowering care.
## Siting
Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile soil that stays moist but drains freely. Avoid both summer drought and persistently waterlogged ground; the low, compact habit works particularly well where the flowers can be seen at close range.
## Maintenance
Water young plants while they establish. After flowering, cut back faded stems to tidy the plant and reduce self-seeding, or leave some pods to ripen if you want volunteers. Because Aquilegia hybrids can cross-pollinate, seedlings may not keep this flower coloring. Remove yellowing old foliage when it looks tired.
