Spikenard

This fast-growing, herbaceous perennial forms a massive, shrub-like clump of brilliant golden-yellow foliage. Reaching up to six feet tall and wide, its large compound leaves provide a tropical feel, maintaining their bright hue in part shade while turning chartreuse in deeper shade. In late summer, spikes of tiny white flowers emerge, followed by decorative purple-black berries. It thrives in moist, fertile soils and is an excellent, deer-resistant choice for woodland gardens.
