About MAJEC™ Red-Orange - Arctotis X hybrida

MAJEC™ Red-Orange is a named African daisy in the Green Fuse series, with silvery foliage and a low, spreading form. Flower color is reported inconsistently: [First Step Greenhouses](https://firststepgreenhouses.com/plant/Arctotis-x-hybridus-Majec-Majec-Red-Orange) lists red and orange flowers, while [Belmont Nursery](https://belmontnursery.com/plant/Arctotis-Majec-Red-orange) describes magenta blooms. Descriptions vary, so check plants in flower if an exact companion-color match matters. ## Appearance and placement The Red-Orange selection suits borders, containers, rock gardens, and low groundcover plantings. Belmont lists a 6–12 inch height and 2–3 foot spread; Ball Seed gives an 8–10 inch garden height for the series. Green Fuse describes MAJEC as a rounded plant with soft silver foliage and abundant single daisies. ## Growing conditions Give it full sun and soil that drains freely, preferably sandy or rocky. First Step lists heat tolerance and average water; Belmont says the plant tolerates drought when established. Water during establishment, then let the soil dry somewhat between irrigations. NC State Extension notes that wet soil can lead to root problems in Arctotis. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers to keep the mound neat and encourage a fresh display. Check for aphids, spider mites, and leaf miners, and avoid persistently wet conditions. In colder regions this warm-climate perennial is commonly used as seasonal color.
