This evergreen perennial forms a dense, bright green mat of tiny, needle-like foliage that mimics the appearance of moss but thrives in sunny, well-drained conditions. Native to Oregon's Wallowa Mountains, it is exceptionally drought-tolerant and handles light foot traffic, making it ideal for rock gardens, fairy gardens, or as a 'lawn' between flagstones. Small white flowers appear sporadically in summer. It prefers sandy or loamy soil and avoids high humidity.
