About Morning Star Deep Rose Sea Pink Thrift

Morning Star Deep Rose is a compact evergreen perennial with rounded rose flower clusters above a low tuft of narrow foliage. [Benary identifies this selection as AM2001R](https://www.benary.com/products/armeria-maritima-morning-star/morning-star-deep-rose-am2001r), lists a 6-inch production height, sun exposure, and use in beds and rockeries. The [University of Wisconsin cultivar guide](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/sea-thrift-armeria-maritima/) describes the Morning Star series as having large, long-lasting flowers on plants about 6 inches tall, including Deep Rose with vivid rose blooms. ## Siting and soil Give it a sunny position with lean, sharply drained soil. Sea thrift is useful at the front of a border, in a rock garden, or in a small container; avoid rich soil and winter wet, which can cause the crown to decline. Wisconsin's drainage and maintenance notes apply to *A. maritima* generally. ## Maintenance Water while establishing, then avoid keeping the root zone wet. Remove spent flower stalks for a tidier display and occasional later flowering. Keep its evergreen foliage intact through winter; divide mature clumps in spring if needed.
