Armeria pseudarmeria 'Ballerina Mix' is a compact evergreen perennial grown for rounded flower heads in a blend of colors above broad, grass-like foliage. A PanAmerican Seed catalog describes Ballerina series plants as 8–10 inches tall and wide; a Colorado State University trial of the Ballerina Formula Mix observed purple, light-pink, red and white flowers, with peak bloom in mid-June.
## Siting and growth
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. The [PanAmerican Seed catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/13123-2014PanAmericanSeed-Catalogue.pdf) describes the Ballerina series as 8–10 inches tall and wide and notes its early-season flowering. The [CSU perennial trial](https://spl.cde.state.co.us/artemis/ucsuserials/ucsu53011internet/ucsu530112014internet.pdf) evaluated Ballerina Formula Mix from Kieft; plants varied in vigor and color, so a seed-grown mix should be expected to vary rather than form a perfectly uniform block.
## Flowers and uses
Flower heads may be red, pink, lilac or white, depending on the plants in the mix. The [Promesse de Fleurs mixed seed profile](https://www.promessedefleurs.ie/annuals/flower-seeds/thompson-and-morgan-seeds/armeria-pseudarmeria-ballerina-mixed-spanish-lawn-seeds-in-mixture.html) describes this color range, evergreen cushion habit and use in sunny, dry rockeries and borders. Use the mix where color variation is welcome, such as a rock garden, sunny edging or containers.
## Maintenance
Provide drainage and water newly planted seedlings while they establish. Remove finished stems if you want to tidy the planting or encourage another flush. Expect variation in flower color and vigor among individual plants, and keep the crowns free of prolonged winter wet.
