Aronia melanocarpa 'Professor Ed' is a compact, deciduous shrub offering multi-season interest. In spring, it produces clusters of fragrant white flowers, followed by glossy dark green foliage that turns a brilliant orange-red in autumn. The edible but tart black berries persist into winter, providing food for wildlife. It is highly adaptable, tolerating wet, boggy soils as well as drought and pollution. This cultivar is ideal for small gardens, mass plantings, or naturalized areas.
