About Tiny Green Wormwood

‘Tiny Green’ is a miniature wormwood with aromatic olive-green leaves that form a very low, dense mat. Tiny yellow flowers appear in summer, and its small scale suits rock gardens, retaining walls, and gaps between stepping stones. ## Landscape use Use it as a small groundcover or accent in a sunny rock garden, along a wall, or between stones with limited foot traffic. Missouri Botanical Garden describes a dense low mat, 2–3 inches tall and 18 inches or more wide, and notes that the plant is sometimes sold as a cultivar of Artemisia viridis. Its parentage is unclear, so the cataloged botanical name is retained with that taxonomic caveat. The aromatic olive-green foliage carries the planting through the season, with tiny yellow flowers in summer. Hardiness listings for this selection begin at zone 5. [Missouri Botanical Garden](https://plantfinder.mobot.org/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?20=&bt=8&isprofile=0&taxonid=256530) ## Maintenance Keep the soil well drained and trim or edge the mat if it expands beyond its allotted space. Avoid planting in wet soil; good drainage is important for long-term vigor.
