About FuzzyFern™ Frizz Asparagus

FuzzyFern™ Frizz is an improved Sprengeri-type asparagus fern grown for its lush, dark-green, fine-textured foliage and vigorous, full growth. Its soft, arching stems add a billowy edge to mixed containers, hanging baskets, and warm-climate beds; the feathery effect comes from modified stems rather than true fern leaves. ## Size and placement [University of Wisconsin Extension](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/asparagus-fern-asparagus-densiflorus/) identifies FuzzyFern Frizz™ as variety PAS1668467, an improved Sprengeri type with more consistent seed availability and germination, and reports a mature range of 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. [Burpee’s product profile](https://www.burpee.com/products/asparagus-fern-fuzzy-fern-frizz-prod600209) sells the exact FuzzyFern Frizz name and describes its frilly green foliage for sunny or partly shaded borders, baskets, and containers, listing up to 36 inches in both dimensions. These references support the current size range. ## Light and care Give the plant bright filtered light or partial shade; protect it from harsh direct midday sun in hot climates. Use a well-drained growing medium and water when the surface begins to dry, avoiding waterlogged roots. It is frost tender, so treat it as an annual outdoors in cold-winter areas or grow it in a movable container. Trade sources differ in whether they label it annual or perennial because winter survival depends on climate. ## Maintenance Pinch or trim stems to keep the plant full and within bounds. Remove yellowing or damaged growth at the base, and keep the container freely draining.
