About Monch Fall Aster

Aster × frikartii ‘Mönch’ is an erect, clump-forming perennial with lavender-blue daisy flowers and golden centers. Its long flowering period begins in high summer and continues into autumn, bridging the summer border and the late-season garden. ## Garden use and seasonal interest Use this selection in a sunny perennial border or container, where its open branching stems can rise above lower plants. [Cambridge University Botanic Garden reports growth to about 90 cm](https://www.botanic.cam.ac.uk/the-garden/plant-list/aster-x-frikartii-monch/), while the [RHS lists 70 cm](https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/aster--frikartii-mnch/classid.2571/sku.rh30002794/); allow roughly 24–36 inches for mature height. ## Siting and soil Choose full sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Cambridge reports reliable flowering and notes that staking was not needed in its garden. Spacing helps maintain airflow and keeps the clump’s outline visible. ## Maintenance Water through establishment and during extended dry weather. Remove faded flower heads to tidy the plant or leave some for seasonal structure.
