About Peach Blossom False Goat's Beard

‘Peach Blossom’ is a compact astilbe with full, airy plumes of peach flowers brushed with pink above glossy green foliage. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=ASBPB) identifies it as a member of Astilbe japonica and lists early-summer bloom, making it a colorful choice for a shaded border, woodland bed or large container. [Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-astilbe-iowa) places Peach Blossom in a different hybrid group, so the cultivar classification varies by source. ## Size and use The breeder lists plants about 24 inches tall and 15–18 inches wide, with peach-toned flowers and green leaves. It also lists the selection for borders, containers, cut flowers and mass planting. Individual plants may vary with soil moisture, light and growing conditions. ## Siting Choose partial shade and fertile soil that stays consistently moist while draining freely. Astilbes can grow in brighter exposures where the soil remains damp, but foliage may scorch if plants dry out. This cultivar is reported hardy in USDA zones 4–9 by its breeder. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and whenever the soil begins to dry. Leave the foliage until spring, when it can be cut back to make room for fresh growth. Divide mature clumps as needed to maintain vigor.
