Razzle Dazzle® is a compact, vigorous astilbe hybrid with dark green foliage and dark-rose to purplish flower plumes. It brings a long seasonal display to a moist, partly shaded border and can also be grown for cut flowers.
## Growth and flowering
[Johansen’s Greenhouse](https://johansengreenhouse.com/nursery-products/products.php?slug=astilbe-razzle-dazzle) identifies the exact Razzle Dazzle hybrid, describes purplish dark-rose plumes, and reports flowering from mid-May through August, 22–25 inches tall and 10–24 inches wide. It also describes the plant as compact, deer resistant and attractive to butterflies. A second nursery, [Parran’s Greenhouse](https://www.parransgreenhouse.com/astilbe-razzle-dazzle-p/astilberazzledazzle.htm), calls it a compact cross between Arendsii and Chinensis and recommends moist soil and semi-shade; more sun is tolerated when moisture is adequate.
## Siting
Give it partial or full shade and fertile soil that stays moist. Astilbe plumes work in perennial borders and woodland gardens, and can be cut fresh or dried. In sunnier sites, steady soil moisture helps prevent stress.
## Maintenance
Water during dry weather and remove spent plumes if you want a tidier display. Divide established clumps when they become crowded.
