About Star of Beauty Masterwort

Star of Beauty is a mound-forming masterwort with pincushion-shaped white flowers tipped in magenta-purple and surrounded by showy bracts. The mid-green, deeply divided foliage and long-lasting flower heads suit cottage borders, containers, and cut-flower gardens. ## Flowers and Garden Use The cultivar’s two-tone umbels combine a white center with purple or magenta tips. Valleybrook’s perennial profile lists flowering from early through late summer and recommends the stems for fresh or dried arrangements. The RHS describes a mound-forming clump with purple flowers and purple bracts around white centers. ## Siting and Size Provide full sun or partial shade and rich, evenly moist soil. Star of Beauty is suited to a middle border or container, where its flowers can rise above neighboring foliage. Valleybrook lists mature height around 50–60 cm and spread around 45–60 cm. RHS recommends full sun or part shade and moist humus-rich soil. ## Maintenance Water in dry weather and deadhead regularly to encourage more buds and limit self-seeding. Cut flowers can also be dried for winter arrangements.
